Marcelino Núñez made his debut with Norwich City against Wigan Athletic just days after arriving in England, for the second date of the Championship, the Second Division of the British country. The result was a 1-1 draw, but the Chilean’s performance gives more than enough to get excited about.
The former Universidad Católica player started, being replaced at 76′. But it was more than enough time for the Chilean team to demonstrate his quality, technique and personality.
Núñez tested the goal with a shot that went slightly wide and also showed good hooking and dribbling that immediately put the focus on his shoulders. However, it is a punctual play that takes all the prizes.
It was averaging the first half when Marcelino received in three quarters of the field and put in a lofted pass, over the defense, which left his teammate Milot Rashica with an advantage, alone in front of the goal.
Unfortunately, the goalkeeper managed to annoy the Kosovo footballer and it was not a goal for Norwich, but Marcelino Núñez’s masterful pass drew applause from the fans of the local team.
Against Wigan the impression was left that “the 26 of the yellows is a crack”. Now Marcelino Núñez will have the opportunity to continue earning a place at Norwich this Tuesday, April 9, against Birmingham City for the League Cup.
