During Saturday, “high damages” are expected in Cuba, reports the Electric Union, confirming that the CTE Guiteras has no problems, after the fire in the industrial zone of Matanzas.
This Friday almost 1000 MW of affectations are reached and that this August 6 the situation should not improve. In fact, yesterday the service was affected due to a 24-hour capacity deficit. The maximum impact was at night with 995 MW at 8:40 p.m., coinciding with peak hours.
Likewise, the service remained affected throughout the early hours of today and a maximum affectation of 750 MW is estimated during daytime hours.
Let us remember that units 6, 7 and 8 of the CTE Mariel, the unit of the CTE Otto Parellada, unit 2 of the CTE Santa Cruz, units 4 and 5 of the CTE Nuevitas and the units 1 and 2 of the CTE Felton. And in maintenance unit 4 of the CTE Cienfuegos.
The part of the UNE details that: “Limitations in thermal generation (428 MW) are maintained. In distributed generation, 1,086 MW are unavailable due to breakdown and 436 MW are undergoing maintenance. For peak hours, the entry of unit 2 of the CTE Santa Cruz with 60 MW (in the startup process) and the use of 136 MW in diesel engines is forecast.
The complex energy situation facing Cuba, causing continuous and long blackouts, has triggered several Cubans to take to the streets to protest in many provinces. Events of this type were recently reported in Cienfuegos and much of the East of the Island.
