President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated that “there are already many days” that 10 miners have been trapped in a mine in Sabinas, Coahuila and because “faith can be lost,” he ordered the work to be accelerated and to look for the possibility that divers military come to the rescue.
“Something has to be done, it’s been many days, you can lose faith,” he instructed by phone the federal government team that is in charge of rescuing the miners.
“You have to do it now, you have to take action now. Those from the Army should know how to talk to them and ask for their opinion (…) Yes, a special rescue team, those from the Army are specialists,” commented the head of the federal Executive aboard a commercial plane that took him to the port of Manzanillo, Colima, where he will begin a work tour.
Yesterday at the morning press conference, Laura Velázquez, national coordinator of Civil Protection, reported that 10 miners are still trapped in Sabinas Coahuila, while work is being done to reduce the water levels that allow access by rescue forces.
