Since the early hours of this August 5, around 210 Communication Sciences students from the Technological University of Peru (UTP) live an ordeal in the enrollment process, after realizing that the house of studies changed the curriculum without authorization already months away from completing his university career.
According to the testimonies collected by La República, the university changed the curriculum this year. Nevertheless, the affected students entered between the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, with a different study plan.

In that sense, to graduate from the race, in some cases, they only needed two or three courses. However, when entering the enrollment platform, they are surprised to find that the remaining subjects amount to five or eight. This would force them to stay one more year of studies and, therefore, pay new pensions.

The problem with this irregular change in the study plan is that it has also harmed those who had already fulfilled all the credits and completed their studies. “Last Tuesday, July 26 of this year, I finished my career courses, according to the curriculum. Yesterday I found myself with the surprise that I am missing seven courses, and today six courses appear that are of the business specialty, “said one of those affected.

“I finished all the courses in the March 2022-1 cycle and I should not have any pending courses. But now they have added courses to me, they cannot do that to the people who are graduating,” said another victim.
Measures taken
Given the situation, the students organized themselves and presented a letter to the Academic Directorate of the university, after exhausting the other means of claiming, both through official channels and through social networks.
The more than 200 students signed the letter and presented screenshots of the change they noticed, from one day to the next, in their student portal.

Through the press team, the UTP responded to La República that “the problems that arose in the enrollment process with some students have been resolved. Therefore, no student should take additional courses or be affected in their curricular progress.
However, those affected assured that, so far, they have not received a solution and the materials that do not belong to them continue to appear on their platform. In turn, the Student Service (SAE) of the university, in response to the claim presented, has told them that, “in order to enhance your skills, we have redesigned the curriculum, maintaining your progress in credits and hours. These modifications will take effect from the March 2022 cycle.
“They want us to cut courses because that way they earn more for credits. They want us to remain students forever”, protested one of the injured.
