In a season where the spotlight has focused on Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Sandy Alcantara, a 39-year-old Justin Verlander is making history. The right-hander is looking for his most outstanding campaign and will try to improve on what he did in 2011, when he won the MVP and the American League Cy Young.

Verlander finished the 2011 season with 25 wins, only 5 losses, 2.40 ERA and 250 strikeouts, while in the current season the right-hander has 15 wins, only 3 losses, 1.73 ERA and 127 strikeouts beginning August.

In all the aforementioned records, the Houston Ace aims to improve all his numbers, highlighting the great effectiveness that he shows at this point. In the American League, Verlander could win his third Cy Young Award and sign his best season on the verge of 40 years, something that nobody would have bet after the end of last season.

Although Verlander signed a great year 2019, in which he won 21 games and only lost 6, with some 2020 and 2021 almost at a standstill due to a Tommy Young operation that kept him out of the diamond for a long time, the Justin’s scene in 2022 is a surprise for all fans.
