The Chinese ambassador in Havana, Ma Hui, thanked this Friday for the solidarity and support of the Cuban government and people in his country’s struggle for sovereignty in the face of the interventionist actions of the United States government.
The Cuban position also demonstrates support for the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, said the diplomat when releasing a statement condemning the visit of US Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi to the Taiwan region.
Ma Hui commented that several countries and political organizations around the world have sent messages of solidarity with China and highlighted the recent messages delivered in Havana by the Nicaraguan government and the United Left Movement of the Dominican Republic.
The ambassador stressed that this type of interference in the internal affairs of other States violates the interests and sovereignty of developing countries, which if not respected will always be subjected.
On August 3, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its firm rejection of the actions aimed at harming the territorial integrity and sovereignty of China, which received the support of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the National Assembly of People’s Power. (parliament).
The Chinese representative in Havana referred to the measures adopted today by the government of the Asian giant, calling them fair, necessary and important, including actions against Pelosi and her family and the interruption of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms with the United States.
Ma Hui stressed that his country will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and achieve national unity, stressing that the one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community.
He added that the congresswoman’s presence in the Taiwan region undermines bilateral relations and sends the wrong signal to secessionist forces, noting that the current tensions are due to these actions by the United States and secessionist groups.
In the opinion of the Asian ambassador, US President Joseph Biden has failed to change the course of relations between the two countries established by his predecessor who described China as an enemy.
