The Cuban ambassador highlighted that the Memorandum is the result of the official visit made to Cuba by the Dominican Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, last April, fulfilling an invitation from President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Arranz Fernández alluded to the Cuban collaboration in Dominica in agricultural, forestry and fishing matters, which began in 2006 and was present in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017, participating in the recovery actions after the devastating passage of Hurricane Maria.

Ricky Brumant, Director of Agriculture for Dominica, said that, like an older brother, Cuba has supported that Caribbean nation in all spheres of life, particularly in health, education and agriculture.
Agricultural activity is currently crucial and it is expected that by 2030 it will increase its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product to 700 million dollars, and Cuba’s collaboration would contribute to that purpose, he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and Food Security referred to his visit to Cuba last April, as part of the delegation headed by Skerrit, and to the good results of the meeting held with his Cuban counterpart, Ydael Pérez Brito , and several officials of that Ministry.
Grant indicated that on that occasion they were able to identify new spheres of cooperation that appear in the Memorandum signed this Friday, and asked that gratitude be transferred to the Cuban Minister of Agriculture for the quick response to the request of the government of Dominica.
