Dominica and Cuba sign agreement in agriculture sector – Up Jobs News

Like an older brother, Cuba supports Dominica in all spheres of life, particularly in health, education and agriculture, emphasized Fidel Grant, Minister of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and Food Security of Dominica.

He added that “agricultural activity is currently crucial and it is expected that by 2030 its contribution to the Antillean country’s Gross Domestic Product will increase to 700 million dollars, and Cuba’s collaboration would contribute to that purpose.”

The memorandum, explains a report from the Cuban Embassy in this capital, establishes cooperation in the areas of agriculture and products of plant origin, in livestock and products of animal origin, in forestry and in other areas of interest.

On the Cuban side, the accredited ambassador to that nation, Ulises Arranz, made a brief account of the collaboration between the two countries in agricultural, forestry and fishing matters, which began in 2006 and was present in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. , 2015 and in 2017 participating in the recovery actions after the passage of Hurricane María.

The diplomat stressed that this agreement was born last April, when Dominica’s prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, visited Havana to attend to the invitation made by the president, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Arranz also stressed that Cuba will continue to advance on the path of cooperation and friendship with the government and people of Dominica, despite the iron economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years.
