The president of the National Teachers’ Unitary Force Union (Sinafum), deputy Orlando Pérez, reported that next Tuesday the 9th the teachers’ workers will march, from Plaza Morelos to Plaza Caracas, to deliver a list of demands regarding the calculation of the vacation bonus on the basis of the last salary increase.
Deputy Orlando Pérez explained that this document contemplates the revision of the social salary and other issues, such as housing and medical and welfare care for the teaching, administrative and labor staff of the Ministry of Education.
Deputy Pérez recalled that after the request for a salary increase by Cbst, on March 3, 2021, “the national government had been dignifying teachers, with 3 progressive salary increases, one in July and December 2021 and , the most recent, in March 2022, which substantially improved our salary and purchasing power. The national government took education as a strategic area for wage recovery”, he stressed.
During an interview with VTV, the parliamentarian said that currently the Ministry of Education and the 17 workers’ organizations are discussing the third Single and Unitary Collective Agreement to resolve, immediately, this pending payment to the education sector and formally present it to the National Executive.
Likewise, he stated that the Organic Labor Law sets the standard for any collective agreement, it grants the right to workers in the education sector to make a “public claim in the face of a situation that not only goes against salary, but also against their family. ”.
He also added that the payment of the vacation bonus means a consideration for the work, it is typified in article 121 and 192 of the norm, for which he estimates that the national government will take actions for the benefit of educational workers.
