A call for neighborhoods and communities to support the Yes to the Family Code in the popular referendum on September 25, was made this Friday by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).
Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and national coordinator of the mass organization, expressed that it is “the Law that grants all our homes securities and guarantees never seen before.”
«Numerous legal, social and ethical arguments have been offered to our population about the relevance of this new Family Code. The most important of the reasons for us to give the long-awaited Yes is that it is a Law that takes away or imposes nothing on anyone, but rather gives us all possibilities and peace of mind, ”says the call.
The also deputy recalled that this rule has been called “the Code of love and affection, because that is the compass that guides all the alternatives and rights that this Law recognizes for all families without distinction, in another expression of that same unity in the diversity that the CDRs have always defended, both inside and outside Cuban houses.”
He also stressed that “practically all the realities that our families live have been taken into account in this Code that we built collectively, with science and popular wisdom, with participation and transparency, without haste and without pause.”
“With the Yes of each CDR member to the Family Code, we will then add another victory for Cuba and our largest mass organization,” said Hernández Nordelo, evoking “the example of Fidel, Raúl, Vilma, and all the strength, sensitivity and intelligence of our generous and just people.
The request was made at a popular festival in the Parque 13 de Marzo of this capital, to remember that on August 5, 1994, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro led the defense of citizen tranquility in our streets together with the capital and Cuban people. .
The CDRs also urged to maintain unity to overcome the current energy and economic difficulties, confront attempts to subvert order and take away from the country the peace that is wanted for its people.
