Laura Velazqueznational coordinator of Civil Protection, reported that 10 miners are still trapped after the collapse inside a mine in Sabinas, Coahuila.
In the morning conference this Friday of the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador In the National Palace, Velázquez pointed out that they are working to reduce the water levels that allow the access of rescue bodies.
In a link in the Treasury Room, the Civil Protection coordinator presented a diagram of the “incident”:
1.- The site is located 350 meters from a tributary of the Sabinas River and 370 meters from the Conchas Norte mine.
2.- On the map you can see the location of three wells, which are flooded. Pump arrangements have been installed in order to lower the water mirror so that the search and rescue forces can safely enter the mine.
3.- The location of two boreholes is observed, where pumping equipment was placed that has allowed expanding the existing pumping capacities.
4.- The Conchas Norte mine can be seen, which is presumed to be connected to the Pinabete mine. A decrease in its water levels (30 meters) has been observed since the accident.
5.- It is essential to reduce the level of the water mirror in the area of the incident, to be able to allow the safe entry of specialized search and rescue personnel.

Relevant Actions
Laura Velázquez also exposed “relevant actions” in the rescue efforts of the 10 miners.
-There are 18 pumping teams on site, of which 9 are from the National Water Commission (Conagua), 5 from mining companies and 2 from Mexico City.
-This Friday 1 more will be integrated, having a total of 19 pumps, considering the requirement of this equipment covered.
-For its operation, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has placed on site 7 electric power generators and 3 transformers, which are complemented by 4 provided by various mining companies, for a total of 14 pieces of equipment. During the day, the CFE will enable a line to provide power to all the equipment that is on site
-This large amount of pumping equipment has significantly lowered the levels of the water mirror in the mine, on average 60 liters per second are being extracted, approximately there is a daily extraction volume of 5,111 cubic meters.
