On July 22, the Youth Service of the Vilassar de Mar City Council (Barcelona) organized an activity for people between the ages of 12 and 30 in which explicit sexual acts were emulated, such as spreading honey and cream on a banana and licking it, placing condoms on a stick or reproduce postures from the Kamasutra. Montse Gual, youth councilor of the Consistory, has recognized these aspects this Friday in a press conference, and has alleged that a technical team gave the green light to some activities that, according to Gual, are inspired by those carried out in other municipalities. Some parents have indicated their willingness to sue the City Council before the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, according to what she advanced this Friday The vanguard.
The error that the councilor has alleged refers to the communication, in which “the parents have not been informed” “in detail” about the activities of the gymkhana. This, as they have recognized, “has generated discomfort and inconvenience in some families.” However, Gual has avoided evaluating the activity itself as an error, although he has subsequently pointed out: “We have made a mistake, surely, in the type of tests, but this is valued, if this activity has worked or has not worked” . Regarding the emulation of oral sex, she has assured that this material serves to “perform pedagogy with the boys to make them understand that this type of material is also used to maintain oral relationships.”
The councilor explained that this activity is part of the Juliol Jove program, which is part of the revitalization of the Espai Jove Can Jorba and that in this gymkhana she has focused some tests “on dealing with health and sexuality issues”, given that the Council of Adolescents had told them that this topic interests them. During the press conference, he argued that this type of activity is largely thought of by the large number of adolescents aged 11, 12 and 13 who watch pornographic content and build an image of sexuality from it, so Espai Jove tries to “break this dynamic by being open to talking about these issues so that they can share them with adults and try to prevent them from building a sexual imaginary with sexist, violent and unhealthy attitudes”.
The representative of the City Council has also explained that the gymkhana implied a previous registration. The event was carried out by monitors who had to adapt it to each age group. Some 52 young people participated, divided into groups of between 6 and 10 people. The gymkhana, the consistory has defended, was a “specific activity”.
