The new Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, announced that the Government will advance in the removal of subsidies, though it will get worse those with higher consumption. This Wednesday in his first announcement, the official indicated that there will be new limits by which state assistance will be further reduced.
Massa specified that there 4 million households that did not apply for subsidies and that, therefore, they will stop receiving them, while another 9 million will continue to receive the State’s contribution to pay the rates.
On those 9 million, in the case of electricity, the subsidized consumption cap will be 400 kilowatts (Kwh).
“This reaches 80 percent of users, but only 50 percent of total residential consumption“, plot Massa. The same limit will have the gas consumption, although with variables such as the geographical area.
Regarding electrical energy, as explained in the Ministry of Economy, in the center and south of the country around 70 percent of residential users they have a average consumption below 325 Kwh. In the AMBA, the figure is higher.
Subsidies: how to know if your consumption exceeds 400 Kwh
In this sense, it is key to have the precision of how much is the usual consumption per month of households to continue maintaining the subsidy, if possible.
- The consumption data appears in the electricity and gas bills that arrive every month, where you can also see the comparison with the previous months and with the same period of the previous year.
- In the case of Edenor and Edesurthe data on monthly consumption appears on the left margin of the ticket.
- There is specified not only the amount of kWh consumed, but also in what period, especially since there are users who could be alarmed to see a high consumption, but that corresponds to two months.
- The graph that appears on the invoice also allows us to know what the average energy consumption was for the last six months.
- It also specifies how many kWh were consumed in the same period of the previous year; and in the cases that it merits, the percentage of consumption reduction that must be achieved to continue receiving the state subsidy can also be included.
- In the case of gas, the measurement is in cubic meters and the detail of the monthly consumption appears on the right side of the bill, where it is also specified in a graph what the consumption was for the previous six months, with the detail of both the number of cubic meters consumed as the amount of bills.
- Metrogas, a distribution company in the AMBA, reads the gas meters every two months. However, the gas bill arrives once a month, divided into two for each period.
