Finland will be relying on Tinja-Riikka Korpela, Tuija Hyyrynen and Sanni Franssi for this month’s European Championship.
The Scandinavian nation, who are in Group B alongside Denmark, Germany and Spain, are playing at the competition for the first time since 2013, when they were knocked out at the group stage.
Their group is probably the hardest at the competition, with progression representing a significant achievement for coach Anna Signeul.
Finland qualified for this edition after finishing top of a qualification group which also contained Portugal and Scotland. It will be the fourth time they have appeared at the tournament.
Captain Korpela, a goalkeeper who plays for Tottenham in the women’s Super League, has plenty of experience from a career which has also seen her feature for Bayern Munich, Valerenga and Everton.
Tuija Hyyrynen, who plays for Juventus, will also need to perform if Finland want to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
