Police locked down the realm round 3pm yesterday, forcing many locals to sleep of their vehicles as the standoff continued into the night time.

Police negotiators and closely armed specialist police surrounded a townhouse the place two men, a 25-year-old Tugun man and a 32-year-old from Labrador, had been believed to be armed.

The two men, who’re wished on return to jail warrants are believed to have identified the house’s proprietor.

“With a return to prison warrant those are activated when they breach some sort of condition of their release from prison,” Detective inspector Chris Ahern mentioned.

“One of the people did have a bracelet and they had removed it in recent days.

“Obviously as we are able to see from in the present day they don’t seem to be serious about coming into contact with police.”

The two men eventually surrendered to police around 11am this morning and were taken into custody.

Police confirmed the area is no longer on emergency alert, revoking the Public Safety Preservation Act.

9News understands that a woman, her sister and their elderly mother were held hostage in a townhouse for four hours by the men before being released.

Queensland Police have maintained that there have been no hostages involved in the incident so far.

Residents of Riverpark Drive, McLaren Road, Kopwhai Place and Inverness Street were put under an exclusion order, which meant those who were home at the time could not leave, and those who were away were unable to return.

People were still being turned away at police checkpoints this morning, with some telling 9News they were forced to spend a chilly night sleeping in their cars.

One stranded resident said he left his home to get groceries and was unable to return home.

“I left the home to go and get some groceries to look at the footy,” he said.

“They let me out and I could not get again in.”

“I’ve bought an 87-year-old mom at house that I wished to get to however hey, you simply gotta float I suppose,” another woman said.

One resident said he would likely be forced to return to work after sleeping in his vehicle.

“I’ll most likely make my manner again to work, unshaven, unshowered, yesterday’s garments,” he said.

Two officers were inside the beat when the shooting took place at about 3.45am on June 6, but were uninjured.

Police said it remains unclear if the men were involved in the two incidents.

Investigations are continuing.
