Malik Tillman will play for the United States instead of Germany in the future.
19-year-old FC Bayern midfielder Malik Tillman has switched allegiance from Germany to the United States.
Tillmann was not included in Germany’s U21 squad for the upcoming fixtures in opposition to Hungary and Poland, with the cause being that he has determined to play for the United States in the future.
“We regret Malik’s decision. It surprised us a lot,” Germany U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo informed Kicker and added:
“We promoted him as a younger player in the U21s, showed him a lot of confidence and gave him playing time.
“In addition, we had been in intensive trade relating to his prospects in the senior nationwide group.”
After playing for the United States U15 national team, Tillmann went on to represent Germany at all youth levels. He made his debut for Germany’s U21 team in October 2021.
