The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported this Sunday that 24 people remain hospitalized and 98 have been discharged, after a fire at the super tanker base in the western province of Matanzas.
There were 122 patients treated in hospitals, of which 116 belong to the male sex and six to the female sex.
24 adults, 23 men and one woman, remain hospitalized, specifies the MINSAP report, which points out that five people are in critical condition, three in serious condition and 16 in care.
The patients are treated in six healthcare centers in the Caribbean country and so far 98 medical discharges have been granted (93 men and five women).
In the provincial Legal Medicine service, professionals from the institution and the Ministry of the Interior identified the body recovered at the scene of the accident yesterday of Juan Carlos Santana, 60, a member of the Cienfuegos Fire Department.
The incident occurred on Friday night when an electrical discharge during a storm impacted crude storage tank 52 at the Matanzas Supertanker Base.
New explosions occurred at dawn at the site due to the extension of the flames to a second fuel repository.
As of this Saturday, aid began to arrive from abroad with flights from Mexico and Venezuela, and new arrivals with supplies and specialists are expected for this Sunday.
