A recent realtor.com report, “June 2022 Hottest Housing Markets: Affordability in the Northeast and Midwest,” ranked the Hartford area as the 8th hottest housing market for the month and the greater New Haven/Milford area as the 19th hottest.
The report, which comes out monthly, ranks metropolitan areas in the United States based on certain real estate criteria like viewers per property and median days on market.
Hartford, which includes both the East and West Hartford areas in this report, averaged 1.8 times more views per property than the national average. In addition, Hartford homes averaged 21 days on the market, eight days less than this time last year.
The New Haven/Milford area averaged 1.5 times more views per property than the national average as well as 23 for the median number of days a listing spent on the market. This year, the New Haven area averaged six fewer days for median time on market than June 2021.
Hartford also jumped 54 spots on the “hotness” rankings from one year ago, while New Haven went up 66 spots from this time last year. Both areas were also recently ranked among the best places to live in the United States in a U.S News and World report.
Realtor.com’s 20 hottest housing markets do not include any metropolitan areas in the west or the sunbelt region. In fact, 11 out of the 20 are areas from the northeast. The report cites affordability to be the driver in the current rankings, with the median listing price for all 20 metros falling within the range of $225,000 to $549,000.
In the May 2022 realtor.com report, Connecticut held three out of the 20 spots, with Hartford at 14, New London at 16 and New Haven/Milford at No.18.
