Manuel Christopher Figuerawho was director of Sebin at the time of the drone attack, he signaled to the “first combatant” to order innocents to be prosecuted. She reported that she was raped Organic Code of Criminal Procedure (COPP) and that Maduro knew that something was brewing against him before the event, but that he himself asked that the parade of the National Guard be held in a place other than Fort Tiuna
The former director of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), Manuel Cristopher Figuera, ratified on Thursday, August 4, that there are innocent people who were sentenced for the case of “assassination attempt» against the president, Nicolás Maduro, such as generals Pérez Gámez, Hernández Da Costa, Juan Requesens and the young Emirlendris Benítez.
In an interview granted to EVTV Miami, Christopher Figuera assured that both Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores; the defense minister, Vladimir Padrino Lopezand the director of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim), Iván Hernández Dala, knew of the irregularities in the case because the director of the Sebin communicated it in a meeting where they were present.
He stated that in said meeting Flores, despite already knowing that there were innocent people, said “bad luck” and that he continue the judicial process against all the people allegedly linked to the case.
Apparently, Saab told him that although the transfer order came, he should not carry it out. However, he replied that he was doing what he was ordered to do. He then said he had confronted him and stated that he wanted him to take charge of the “irresponsibility” of the Prosecutor’s Office.
He commented that he did a parallel investigation because he considered that the evidence was inconsistent. He even mentioned that at the meeting where Cilia Flores was present, she denounced that this was happening and that it was necessary to release those who were not involved in the problem.
Given this situation, Manuel Cristopher Figuera mentioned that he chose to improve the situation for those deprived of liberty.
The former director of Sebin criticized that in the process there have been violations of the Organic Code of Criminal Procedure (COPP) for carrying out the hearings at night, since the working hours of the courts are established in the same articles.
He did assert that the drones used on August 4, 2018 had a certain risk and claimed to have confessed to Maduro that the Sebin knew of that attempted assassination. “I also have that information,” the president replied and stressed that “that is why you are there” in the Sebin.
He recalled that in the case of General Pérez Gámez, the sentenced to 30 years cried during the interview he had with him at that time and revealed that the senior officer had thought of taking his own life because he felt that Padrino López, whom he considered his friend, he abandoned him and let him be imprisoned for no reason.
He commented that it was Maduro who asked that year to hold the parade in a place other than Fort Tiuna and it was the then commander of the National Guard, Richard López Vargas, together with Padrino López, who decided that it would be on Bolívar Avenue in Caracas. He said that Pérez Gámez is accused of allegedly revealing “secret” information about the parade, when what he did was give the order of operations and supervise the maneuvers.
Regarding General Hernández Da Costa, Manuel Cristopher Figuera said that the general now sentenced to 30 years was envied for his brilliance and integrity. In this sense, he commented that Alexander Gramcko, from the Dgcim, made a kind of “analysis” and made a list of suspects in the case and included several high-ranking officials.
He asserted that from the Maduro administration they know that he delivered information to the commission that prepared the UN Fact-Checking Report about several cases, including that of Roberto Marrero, and that little by little information has reached him from people who are still inside because they express concern about the issue of the non-prescription of crimes against humanity.
He also stressed that there were people, such as the first vice president of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello, who knew what was going to happen and who did not show up for the parade. In addition, he denounced that the arrest warrant against Carla Angola was made only to prevent people from talking about the sentences in the “attempted assassination” case.
