The Ukrainian cargo ship MKK 1 was stranded in Istanbul’s Bosphorus strait on Monday, leading to a suspension of traffic in the strait. No damage was reported, according to Tribeca shipping agents.

As part of the assistance provided to the ship, some tugboats were also sent, according to the coast guard authority.

On the Asian side of the Bosphorus, the bow of the ship carrying 13,000 tons of peas ran aground near the coast.

Turkey’s Mediterranean port of Mersin, which is part of the UN-brokered Black Sea grain deal, said the ship would leave Pivdennyi at the weekend.

The Palau-flagged general cargo ship was stranded in Acarburnu while heading south on Monday, Tribeca reported.
