Officers could be seen crouched behind cars in Dominion Rd in Nawton, Hamilton, on Friday afternoon.
Cordons have lifted and police are leaving the scene after a siege where armed officers surrounded a Hamilton house.
A popping sound neighbours believe was police deploying gas canisters was earlier heard.
The sound was heard around 4pm, over three hours after police cordoned off the house after man was seen with a gun.
Police were called to a home on Dominion Road in Nawton, Hamilton at 12.47pm on Friday.
Police armed with rifles had blocked the road, and dozens of officers were at the scene.
However, by 4.30pm, police were leaving and neighbours were heading back to their homes. It is unknown if an arrest was made.
Earlier, a drone was also put up as locals patiently waited.
One couple are trying to get back to their house which is in the cordon- their adult children inside.
The parents have told them to lock the doors and stay inside.
They had only bought the house 3 months ago and hadn’t had any problems since moving in.
Earlier a resident in the area said he opened his curtains to see many police officers outside.
Armed police surrounded the house and called to the person inside, telling them they were under arrest and to come out
But the person wasn’t cooperating, the resident said.
In the street, four officers could be seen crouched down behind police cars, and a wheelie bin was moved for cover.
The Armed Offenders Squad was at the scene. One was seen running between properties in a nearby cul-de-sac with a small ladder.
