With the holiday weekend coming up and raring to hit the slopes, Stowe Mountain Resort says its new parking system is helping reduce wait times to hit the trails. “We had a great weekend,” general manager Bobby Murphy said. “We were lucky to have snow last weekend and good cold weather with fake snow. People came out, it was a great weekend.” Despite the turnout, Murphy said the parking lots saw fewer cars than in previous years. there were no traffic jams on the mountain road coming to and from the resort and we still had ample parking available,” Murphy said. I didn’t bring my car so I can only ride the bus, which is really nice.” said snowboarder Edwin Marquis. “I have no car expenses this season!” But no matter how you get to Stowe, the wait to do a few laps may be shorter. “I remember last year we had to wait in traffic for about three hours,” said Vivien Sheffield, visiting with her family from Massachusetts. “Maybe an hour, but it definitely felt like three hours. But it’s so much better.” Murphy said in previous years that the resort would be “parked.” With multiple options for getting to the base, skiers and snowboarders braved the cold on vacation. “It’s really nice and they’re blowing a lot in Gondolier, I hope it opens soon,” said Vivien. “North Slope is really good,” added his brother Pierson. I can’t wait for the rest of the season. “Oh, we’re going to get more snow. It’s just a matter of time; it’s been a slow start,” Murphy said. “But like I said, the snowmakers are doing their part. Now, I think the weather will make the switch and we’ll have plenty of snow for the second half of the season.”

With the holiday weekend coming up and raring to hit the slopes, Stowe Mountain Resort says its new parking system is helping reduce wait times to hit the trails.

“We had a great weekend,” said General Manager Bobby Murphy. “We were lucky to have snow last weekend and good cold weather with fake snow. People came, it was a great weekend.”

Despite the turnout, Murphy said there were fewer cars in the parking lots than in years past.

“This weekend, we had no traffic jams on the mountain road to and from the resort and we still had ample parking available,” Murphy said.

This year, Murphy said he’s seen more people riding carpools or taking public transportation up the mountain.

“Well, I don’t park, I didn’t bring my car, so I can only ride the bus, which is pretty nice,” said snowboarder Edwin Marquis. “No car expenses for me this season!”

But no matter how you get to Stowe, the wait to do a few laps may be shorter.

“I remember last year we had to wait in traffic for about three hours,” said Vivien Sheffield, visiting with her family from Massachusetts. “Maybe an hour, but it definitely felt like three hours. But it’s so much better.”

Murphy said that in previous years, the complex would be “parked.”

With multiple options for getting to the base, skiers and snowboarders braved the cold on vacation.

“It’s really nice and they’re blowing a lot over Gondolier, I hope it opens up soon,” said Vivien.

“North Slope is really good,” added his brother Pierson.

But the resort says they can’t wait for the rest of the season.

“Oh, we’re going to get more snow. It’s just a matter of time; it’s been a slow start,” Murphy said. “But like I said, the snowmakers are doing their part. Now, I think the weather will make the switch and we’ll have plenty of snow for the second half of the season.”
