Here’s how to generate AI images using Midjourney. Be sure to follow each step.
Make sure you have a Discord account as the imaging platform is completely based on Discord, therefore you need to have an account there to use the feature. If you haven’t already, you can sign up for Discord for free.
Go to the Midjourney website. Click Join the beta. This will take you to a Discord invite.
After being redirected to the page, click on the Accept Invitation button to continue on Discord.
The Discord app will not launch immediately. When it happens, go to the menu on the left and select the Midjourney icon similar to a ship.
Find Newcomer rooms on the Midjourney canals. Usually, there are a few newcomer rooms open, with names like “newcomers-109” etc. You can start with any of the following options. You are now ready to start creating AI art. Before you begin, please note that your free trial only includes a limited number of request options. You can take approximately 25 photos for free. After that, you need to purchase a full membership to continue.
When you’re ready, type “/imagine” into the Discord conversation in your starter room. This will open a popup box where you can provide the description of the image. The more specific your description, the better the AI can generate good results. Once you’re done, press Enter to submit your notice.
Wait a minute for Midjourney to generate your photos. Usually, the AI will spawn multiple variations based on your description. You now have several alternatives on how to proceed.
If you select an image you like and select U to enlarge it, you’ll be presented with a new set of alternatives. Among other possibilities, you can make variations to that image, enhance it as much as possible before downloading it, or choose a slightly improved redo if it’s not exactly what you expected.
When you’re done, send yourself the image via private message by tapping the envelope emoticon and adding it to your chat. You can then save and download the image whenever you want.
