MANISTEE — The agenda for Tuesday’s Manistee City Council meeting is extensive, including three public hearings and nine new items that council members are expected to vote on.

The Manistee City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at Manistee City Hall, 70 Maple St.

public hearings

• River Street Hotel, LLC has made an application to establish a Blighted Property Rehabilitation District for 348 River St. for redevelopment of the property.

During the new business portion of the meeting, the board may pass a resolution establishing a Blighted Property Rehabilitation District for the property.

• The second hearing also focuses on the 348 River St. property.

An application has been received from River Street Hotel for a Certificate of Exemption from Obsolete Property Rehabilitation for the property.

During the new business portion of the meeting, the council could pass a resolution to approve a River Street Hotel Certificate of Obsolete Rehabilitation application for the property.

• The third public hearing addresses a brownfield plan for the River Street Hotel redevelopment project.

During the new business portion of the meeting, the council could adopt a resolution approving the Brownfield Plan for the redevelopment of the River Street Hotel.

Life jacket loan station

The Manistee Area Leadership Program is facilitating the installation of a life jacket loan station for the public.

The council could authorize the installation of the station, the location of the installation, and agree that the city would maintain the station once installed.

Housing Director Salary Increases

The Council may adopt a resolution establishing compensation and compensation increases for the director of the Manistee Housing Commission.

amphitheater committee

The city allocated $20,000 of the American Rescue Plan Act funds in the current budget and Salt City Rock and Blues, Inc also dedicated funds for a market/feasibility study to determine the appropriate size and operation of a beach amphitheater at First Street Beach and Douglas Park.

The council could establish an ad hoc arena market and feasibility study RFP committee, appoint a council member to serve on the committee.

Presentations

Tuesday’s meeting agenda also features a State of the Streets presentation on the city’s upcoming roadwork plans and a presentation from the Manistee Recreation Association.
