Ice Norway undertakes coverage obligations to receive 5G auction discount after rules change



Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said that Ice Group has opted to undertake regional coverage obligations following the 5G auction that ended on 30 September, in order to receive a spectrum licence discount. Before the auction, Nkom had published a provisional list of buildings covered by the discount system, then amended it on 29 October, which meant Ice had the right to revise its decision to bid. The watchdog changed one funding criterion to assume broadband access at 3 km or less instead of 4 km, reducing eligible premises to around 48,000.
