ELLOREE, SC — An Elloree scavenger hunt aims to encourage greater support for your local businesses along Cleveland Street.

“I think it’s a great idea. I think it will give parents and children something to do together,” said Elloree resident Marlene Leone.

There is a list of various hidden objects along Cleveland Street, from the traffic lights to the train tracks, that will be hidden in plain sight, such as chairs, scarves, and curtains. These are objects that people can try to spot for a chance to win prizes.

The scavenger hunt was made possible by the Elloree Business Association who plan to host a new one every quarter.

“We need to support our merchants. If we can get foot traffic on Cleveland Street, hopefully they’ll see something they’d like to buy or hopefully they’ll be able to eat at one of our three restaurants,” said EBA’s Kristie Anderson.

One of these restaurants is Logan’s Pizza House. Leone has lived in the City of Elloree for about a year and a half. During that time span, he says he witnessed the evolution of Cleveland Street into downtown Elloree.

“There were many buildings that were empty. A lot. Now most of the buildings have occupants and businesses, so it’s wonderful,” she said.

There will be around three winners announced each quarter. They will receive prizes such as gift cards to purchase at some of the local stores in town. This quarter’s scavenger hunt ends on March 31st.
