The global trend towards digital transformation is not only improving supply chains and corporate results. It can also save lives and livelihoods.

Recognizing this fact, E.design Insurance Co. Ltd. has taken advantage of cloud technologies to create “&e” (Andy), an auto insurance system.

“E.design, in collaboration with Accenture, sought to redefine the company’s mission, vision and values embracing the customer experience in a new way,” said Shigeo Kuwabara (pictured left), President and CEO of E.design. “While the traditional view of a customer of car insurance is ‘just in case’, Accenture and E.design form the eye that what customers really want is accident prevention”.

Kuwabara and Akiko Horie (pictured right), Senior Managing Director of Accenture Japan Ltd., spoke with theCUBE Industry Analyst John Furrier at the recent AWS Executive Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE , SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio. They discussed the prospects of Accenture and E.design’s jointly engineered products in the accident coverage and driver safety market. (*Disclosure below).

A new vision of vehicle insurance

“&e” isn’t the only product that both companies have worked to create. There is also “Safe Driving Together”, an initiative that harnesses vast amounts of driving data to prevent accidents. In essence, E.design is tackling auto insurance pain points before and after an accident, according to Horie.

“This is a new innovation for many insurance customers, especially the traditional insured and the new generation”, explained Horie. “Thus, it gives customers a new experience and it makes a big change in the customer experience. E.design leads this experience in the world.”

In terms of features, &e is the “world’s most advanced full cloud insurance system,” according to Kuwabara. It combines digital comfort and the concept of creating safety for the driver, as well as reducing the risk and event of an accident, through data.

“Accenture supported us in a wide range from areas, including business, design and IT,” Horie said. “IIn addition, Accenture studies in cutting-edge digital technologies, such as AI and data analytics, were necessary to become a digital-first insurance company.”
