Press Release: Ren’s Pets
Ren’s Pets, a leading Canadian specialty pet food and supply retailer, will open a new retail store in The Beaches, Toronto, Ontario this fall. It will be the third urban concept store for Ren’s with a smaller footprint, a sleek new look and the best selection of curated products designed to meet the needs of an urban pet parent. The store will be located at 2050 Queen Street East by TD Bank.
“We are very excited to open a Ren’s urban concept store in The Beaches, expanding our network of stores in Toronto,” said Scott Arsenault, CEO of Ren’s Pets. “We know the area has a very passionate pet community that seeks the kind of premium pet food, treats and toys in top brands that we have at Ren’s. The new location couldn’t be more perfect, right next to the grocery store, banks, the library, and the park that leads to the beach.”
The Beaches store will have a 6,000 square foot footprint and will feature Ren’s best selection of cat and dog products. This includes high-quality cat and dog food aisles, treat and toy displays, plus a special grooming section. There will also be 15 doors or 30′ of large walk-in freezers for raw and frozen pet food, one of the largest selections in Toronto. The overall look of the store will have a fresh boutique look, with updated signage, bulletin board and brick accents, and new accessory styles.
“We learned a lot opening our first urban location in Liberty Village, Toronto,” Arsenault said. “It showed us that pet owners in the city wanted small to medium-sized bagged foods, along with a large selection of frozen raw foods. They loved to bring their pets often when they went for a walk to pick up a new gift or toy. We ended up expanding our cat and grooming sections to keep up with the demand. We have The Junction, Toronto opening this February, and we hope to see a lot of learning from that urban location as well.”
“Liberty Village also quickly became our flagship DoorDash store, demonstrating how Toronto pet parents want same-day delivery for added convenience,” added Larissa Wasyliw, Ren’s vice president of eCommerce and marketing. “The Beaches should be similar, as it’s an easy way for cat and dog owners to get their pet supplies — particularly larger bags of pet food and heavy kitty litter — right to their doorstep. “.
“There are already many Ren’s Rewards members from The Beaches area now shopping with us in our GTA stores or on the website,” Wasyliw continued. “We know these pet owners want a great neighborhood pet store where they can bring their pets in, talk to trained staff for advice, weigh their pets, try on samples, and adjust them for halters or collars. We can’t wait to show The Beaches that Ren’s is here for your pet’s best life with the best food, treats and toys you can get for happy, healthy pets.”
Ren’s operates 45 stores in Ontario and the Maritimes, with an additional 10 new stores currently scheduled to open in 2023.
