A blanket of snow paralyzed roads in Croatia, southern Austria and Slovenia.
Croatia announced a ban on trucks with trailers in the mountainous regions of Lika and Gorski Kotar and also lowered speed limits and closed lanes and sections of the A1 and A6 highways.
There was heavy rain in the southernmost parts of Croatia which were affected by the warm scirocco wind from the south.
In southern Austria, a fresh fall of 10 to 20 cm of snow created half-meter snowdrifts, felling trees and disrupting power supplies. More than 10,000 homes were without power and there were also road closures.
Zell Pfarre, near the Slovenian border, saw some of the highest snowfall.
In Slovenia itself, Ljubljana’s morning rush hour turned into a snow hour as dozens of trucks got stuck on snow-covered roads.
